Location Evidence — Structured & Reviewable

Photo Verification allows riders to earn waypoint credits by submitting location-based photo evidence.

This method is ideal when:

  • GPS tracking wasn’t active
  • No GPX file was recorded
  • The ride allows manual photo submissions
  • A checkpoint requires visual confirmation

But like all verification methods in MotoTracker, uploading a photo does not automatically create credit.

Credits are only awarded when the evidence satisfies ride rules.

How Photo Verification Works

  1. The rider takes a photo at or within the radius of a waypoint.
  2. The rider uploads the image to MotoTracker.
  3. The system extracts metadata (such as GPS coordinates and timestamp when available).
  4. The photo location is evaluated against the waypoint radius.
  5. If the submission satisfies ride rules:
    • A waypoint credit is created.

If the requirements are not met, the submission may be rejected or require review.

What Counts as a Photo Credit?

A Photo-generated credit is created when:

  • The rider is joined to the ride.
  • The ride allows photo verification.
  • The ride is active (or within rally time window).
  • The photo contains valid location data.
  • The photo location falls within the waypoint radius.
  • No duplicate credit already exists.

One waypoint. One rider. One credit.

Duplicate protection prevents repeated uploads from generating multiple credits.

Metadata & Location Requirements

Photo verification depends on location data.

Most smartphones embed GPS coordinates into the image file (EXIF data).
MotoTracker reads this metadata during processing.

If:

  • Location data is missing, or
  • Coordinates fall outside the waypoint radius

The submission may not generate credit.

Clear location capture is essential.

Rally Timing Enforcement

For Rally rides, photo submissions must fall within:

  • Rally start time
  • Rally end time

A photo taken before or after the rally window will not earn credit.

This ensures fairness and prevents retroactive submissions.

Submission vs Credit

Important distinction:

Photo Submission
The evidence you upload for processing and potential review.

Waypoint Credit
The official verified result recorded in the system.

Uploading a photo does not guarantee credit.
Only validated submissions generate waypoint hits.

Review & Oversight

Photo submissions may be:

  • Automatically validated (if all rules are satisfied)
  • Flagged for Coordinator review
  • Confirmed or rejected with notes

This ensures edge cases are handled fairly and transparently.

All decisions are recorded and auditable.

When to Use Photo Verification

Photo verification is ideal when:

  • GPS tracking wasn’t available
  • You forgot to record a GPX file
  • The ride requires visual confirmation
  • You need manual submission flexibility

For automatic verification, GPS Tracking is recommended.

For track-based validation, use GPX Upload.

System Integrity & Fairness

MotoTracker ensures photo verification is:

  • Radius-based
  • Time-aware (for rallies)
  • Duplicate-safe
  • Ride-scoped
  • Fully auditable

Every approved photo credit is recorded in the same canonical system as GPS and GPX credits.

If it appears in your Waypoint Credits page — it’s official.

Summary

Photo Verification is:

  • Flexible
  • Structured
  • Review-capable
  • Fair
  • Integrity-driven

It’s visual proof — without compromising verification standards.
