📡 Automatic Verification — Done Right

MotoTracker integrates with Traccar to provide real-time GPS-based waypoint verification.

This allows riders to earn credits automatically when they physically enter a waypoint’s defined radius — without uploading GPX files or photos.

But unlike simple tracking apps, MotoTracker does not treat raw GPS movement as progress.

Credits are only awarded when a waypoint is officially verified and recorded.

How GPS Tracking Works

  1. A rider links a GPS device to their MotoTracker account.
  2. The device sends location data to the MotoTracker GPS server.
  3. When a rider enters a waypoint radius:
    • The system evaluates the event.
    • If all ride rules are satisfied, a waypoint credit is created.
  4. That credit appears in the rider’s Waypoint Credits page and Dashboard.

Raw GPS events alone do not equal progress.
Only verified waypoint hits count.

What Counts as a GPS Credit?

A GPS credit is created when:

  • The rider is officially joined to the ride.
  • The ride is active (or within rally time window).
  • The device is properly linked.
  • The GPS position enters the waypoint’s defined radius.
  • No duplicate credit already exists.

MotoTracker enforces unique constraints to prevent duplicate hits from GPS replays or device reconnects.

If it appears in your Waypoint Credits list — it’s official.

Supported GPS Device Types

MotoTracker supports two device categories:

1️⃣ MotoTracker-Generated IDs (MT##########)

Used with the Traccar Client mobile app.
IDs are generated by MotoTracker to prevent entry errors.

2️⃣ Hardware / OEM Devices

IMEI-based tracking devices such as:

  • Standalone GPS trackers
  • Hardwired motorcycle trackers
  • SIM-based tracking units

Device linking is explicit and controlled — one active device per rider.

Device Linking Rules

GPS tracking only works when:

  • A device is linked to your account.
  • The device is active and reporting.
  • You are joined to a ride that allows GPS verification.

Unlinking a device is destructive to prevent ghost tracking or history bleed.

MotoTracker is the source of truth.
Traccar stores telemetry.

Rally Timing & GPS

For Rally rides, GPS credits are only valid:

  • After the rally start time
  • Before the rally end time

Entering a waypoint outside the rally window will not generate credit.

This prevents early scouting or post-event crediting.

GPS Events vs GPS Credits

It’s important to understand the difference:

GPS Events
Raw location data received from the device.
Visible in diagnostic and event logs.

GPS Credits
Verified waypoint hits that satisfy ride rules and are officially recorded.

Events are visibility.
Credits are achievement.

Near Miss & Diagnostics

MotoTracker includes diagnostic visibility for situations such as:

  • Entering just outside a waypoint radius
  • Device reporting inconsistently
  • Timing conflicts during rally windows

Riders and Coordinators can review GPS behavior through dedicated diagnostics pages.

This keeps verification transparent and auditable.

Why MotoTracker Uses Structured GPS Verification

Many ride apps simply display tracks.

MotoTracker enforces:

  • Unique hit constraints
  • Replay-safe crediting
  • Device ownership control
  • Ride-scoped validation
  • Time-bound rally enforcement

This ensures:

✔ No inflated stats
✔ No duplicate credits
✔ No ambiguous ownership
✔ No hidden logic

When Should You Use GPS Tracking?

GPS tracking is ideal when:

  • You want automatic waypoint crediting
  • You’re participating in a live rally
  • You don’t want to upload GPX manually
  • You want real-time verification

For offline rides or manual submissions, GPX and Photo verification are also supported.

Summary

GPS Tracking in MotoTracker is:

  • Automatic
  • Structured
  • Replay-safe
  • Ride-aware
  • Audit-friendly

It’s not just tracking.

It’s verified progress — in real time.
